Some 150 km from Kathmandu, Kuri is a serene place which is the base camp to the holy place Kalinchowk. Soon after leaving Kathmandu and Bhaktapur, and then a long stretch of Dhulikhel, shortly a winding road to Dolakha starts. You’d have to be wary of the dusty and bumpy roads before reaching Charikot though as it can make your travel complicated. Your trek to Kalinchowk starts from Charikot. The straight uphill from Charikot to Kuri is not an easy one either. Rocky trails filled with mud will make you feel like walking in a muddy field. As you ascend higher, the weather will be much colder and windy. You’d have to take occasional breaks so as to adapt with the daunting trail.
You’ll never feel such a brisk and frosty wind coming against you as you reach Kuri but graced with all the beautiful landscapes and glorious sunset, you will forget about the cold and take a snap of it. Kuri is free from unnecessary crowd, litter and anything the mankind produces at easily accessible places. It is recommended to hike up to Kalinchowk in the morning to witness a magical sunrise from atop but the sunset from the hill is equally stunning.
The pinnacle of this trek is the trident-filled pilgrimage site of Kalinchowk Bhagwati Temple at 3,780 meters. The cool breeze atop the hill will be relaxing and comforting, especially after such a laborious climb. Once you reach the top, you can see the place surrounded by metal tridents which the devotees bestow to the god. You could also see different mountain peaks which seem to be standing just next to you. The brilliance of the landscape from the top will justify your persistence. While the climb will be an arduous task, descending down the peak will be comparatively easier. The splendour of the Langtang range, Mt. Gaurishankar and other peaks will make your descent even more effortless.
On your arrival in Kathmandu, Tribhuwan International Airport, our representative will welcome you & drive you to the hotel. It’s a free day/evening. You can walk around Thamel for shopping.
